Advance undergraduate science by publishing with the first student-run research journal at the University of North Texas
Making Publication Accessible to Undergraduates.
Wingspan is a student-run undergraduate research journal at the University of North Texas, publishing work in the natural and social sciences. Founded in 2025, it was created to support and recognize undergraduate research amid declining funding for science and innovation.
Wingspan publishes original undergraduate research conducted outside the classroom. All submissions are reviewed through a double-blind peer review process to ensure quality and academic integrity.
As an R1 doctoral university, UNT depends on undergraduate researchers, yet publication opportunities remain limited. Wingspan offers a free, peer-reviewed platform that helps students strengthen their academic profiles and prepare for graduate and medical school.
What We're Looking For
Wingspan is looking for undergraduate researchers looking to platform their original research and simulate the peer review process to prepare for graduate level research.
UNT undergraduate students and alumni graduating after May 2025
Wingspan publishes research in the natural and social sciences, including but not limited to: astronomy, biology, chemistry, environmental science, physics, public health, psychology, sociology, anthropology, geography, and political science.
Original research or literature reviews completed under a faculty mentor at an accredited institution. Honors theses and mentored research are welcome; Class assignments are not accepted.
All authors will be required to submit an Author Agreement form, which includes a faculty letter of recommendation, proof of IRB approval, and agreement to Wingspan’s plagiarism, conflict of interest, co-author, and funding clauses.
